Capturing Sunrise

It is my 100th post on Random|Pix blog. I started this blog three years ago with a picture of a sunrise on my birthday. Waking up before dawn and trying to capture the beginning of a new year in my life is now a well-established tradition. I was hoping to make my 100th post about this year’s birthday sunrise. We were away on a camping trip at Silent Lake Provincial Park so the setting was perfect. Unfortunately, the sky was overcast and no sun was to be found anywhere. I still got out of the tent and took the pictures. You can see them and read about our camping trip on my Gone Camping blog.

This post, however, will be about a different picture and a different sunrise. I took the picture below a few years ago over Lake of the Clouds at Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park during our Lake Superior Circle Tour. Birthday Sunrise

Another sunrise, another day, another year…

This past year has been a year of editing – getting rid of meaningless possessions, unproductive thoughts and bad habits. A year of embracing simplicity and finding beauty in small things. A year of exciting new experiences and great old friends. A year of breathtaking sunrises over the steaming Yellowstone geysers, sunset swims in Lake Huron, adventurous hikes in the Rockies, starry skies and numerous campfires with songs and s’mores. A year of long winter nights cozying up at home with family, friends, good wine and great conversations.

So here is to many more beautiful sunrises and another great year!
