Capturing Sunrise

It is my 100th post on Random|Pix blog. I started this blog three years ago with a picture of a sunrise on my birthday. Waking up before dawn and trying to capture the beginning of a new year in my life is now a well-established tradition. I was hoping to make my 100th post about this year’s birthday sunrise. We were away on a camping trip at Silent Lake Provincial Park so the setting was perfect. Unfortunately, the sky was overcast and no sun was to be found anywhere. I still got out of the tent and took the pictures. You can see them and read about our camping trip on my Gone Camping blog.

This post, however, will be about a different picture and a different sunrise. I took the picture below a few years ago over Lake of the Clouds at Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park during our Lake Superior Circle Tour. My essay about this incredible experience was published today in The Globe and Mail newspaper. To read why it was so special, click here.
